Village East Tower is an existing 8-story 108-unit senior-housing apartment building. The apartment renovation focused on repair and replacement of finishes, cabinets, appliances and HVAC equipment. Six units were upgraded to mobility impaired units and three will be modified to provide for the visual and hearing impaired.
Major mechanical replacement involved redesign of the domestic hot water system, heating boilers, cooling tower and chiller, and unit fan coils/blowers. Sustainable design items include the use of low VOC paints, adhesives and carpeting, Energy Star rated appliances, Energy Star window replacement, and low flow plumbing fixtures. This project incorporates funding from the Missouri Housing Development Commission tax credit program. All work was completed with the residents maintaining occupancy during construction.
